The Begging Bowl

There are two reasons why you might wish to put $1 in my bowl.

1. It will make me happy.

I realise that money is not a reliable route to happiness but if you do decide to donate it will probably make me chuckle and give me a warm feeling inside. That in itself is not a bad return on your $1 even if I turn out to be a shallow and undeserving person, which I hope is not the case. It might even make you happy as well; random acts of kindness can do that.

2. You get to find out how much is in the bowl

If you donate $1, the website will email you and tell you how much money has been donated in total. You will find out if this strange experiment has made me a millionaire or whether I was a misguided fool. You will also find out something about the nature of people on the Internet. Is the Internet populated by thousands of generous and well-meaning individuals, or are you the only one? These are intriguing questions.
